You know summer has almost arrived in Leeds when the merest hint of sun has punters flocking to the Oracle Bar terrace wearing their Ray-Bans and not much else; and who’s complaining? Here at Pink Gorilla we’ve been busier than ever, prepping for some exciting projects which are set to make this awesome city just that little bit more, well awesome.
Make some space in your social calendar as we give you the lowdown on the forthcoming events you don’t want to miss as well as some of the highlights from recent weeks.
Bowled over by Roxy Lanes
Can you believe it’s been two years since Roxy Lanes landed in Leeds? No, us neither. In early May we organised a big birthday bash to help them celebrate in style, which of course involved some bad boy pizzas, beers and bowling. Whilst it’s safe to say that some of the bowling skills were somewhat questionable, the night went with a bang – here’s to the next two years and beyond!
Having a ball in Huddersfield
Whilst we’re on the subject of the Jones Bar Group, another success story of theirs is set to expand. Boasting four custom wrapped Sam K pool tables and four ping pong tables, Roxy Ballroom lands on Huddersfield’s popular Zetland Street at the end of May. This vibrant new joint will be serving up a well-crafted selection of pizzas and cocktails, which revellers can enjoy al-fresco on its large outdoor terrace. Bring it on; this one is set to be a game-changer!
Shiny Disco Balls!
What happens when you combine the world’s biggest disco ball with 25,000 people in Leeds? Something pretty darn amazing that’s what! On the 1st July Sheaf Street will be illuminated by a glitter ball that’s more disco than Donna Summer and shinier than Michael Jackson’s jewel encrusted glove (it also happens to be two and a half the times of a double decker bus).
Head on over to their website to purchase tickets and to vote for your favourite disco classic. We can’t wait for the press launch on 2 June.
Walking on down Greek Street
So what if the launch of the newly pedestrianised Greek Street landed on one of Leeds wettest days; the night was anything but a wash-out! Teams from The Alchemist, Gusto and The Liquorist were on hand to provide everyone with some of the best food and cocktails you’ll find in the city. If you’ve not had chance to visit, then come check it out.
Leeds Market gets a makeover
In case you hadn’t noticed, Leeds Market is undergoing something of a makeover and we are currently working on them with the re-launch. We can’t say too much about this one just yet, but keep your eyes peeled for the PGHL team who will be out and about promoting the refurb on the legendary market.
New Conservatory, new menu
The New Conservatory has long been a favourite of the PGHL team and so we we’re delighted to organise the launch of their fabulous new summer menu. The evening was a resounding success, with a big thumbs up given to the new additions to their diverse menu which includes everything from tasty tempura prawns to steak and lobster!
So that’s it for this month – we hope to see you at a forthcoming event!
Team PGHL
